The True Cost of LatexWhen selecting the proper hand protection in today's healthcare environment, cost is a determining factor. Be sure you evaluate the "real cost" of your selection. This includes, but is not limited to the following: GLOVE COST plus POST REACTION COST
Latex gloves that are powder-free and low in protein and chemical contact sensitizers may temporarily relieve less severe dermal reactions, but should not be worn in cases of Urticaria (type 1 hypersensitivity). To effectively or permanently relieve long term effects of latex sensitivities, the sensitive wearer should consider eliminating all contact with latex products to avoid further sensitization that may lead to type 1 reactions. Frequency and duration of exposure to latex gloves may lead to the dermal reaction pictured.
See Viral Penetration Chart for Glove Type Comparisons.
